To celebrate their pioneering virtual stage, Birmingham Royal Ballet have collaborated with virtual reality company RiVR for The 12 Days of NutcrackAR, the world’s first Nutcracker-themed augmented reality trail!
Taking place across various locations in Birmingham, the trail of QR codes, accessible through your smart device gives users a sneak peek at the props and costumes from the famous production.
You can head to the Custard Factory to explore the Fireplace from The Nutcracker in full detail – simply scan the QR code and listen to the voiceover for all the interesting details.

And that’s not all – if you tag BRB (@bhamroyalballet), Digbeth Estate (@digbethestate) and InDigbeth (@InDigbeth) in your photos of the NutcrackAR Fireplace, you will receive a discount code via DM for tickets to see The Nutcracker during its run in Birmingham this festive season.
But be quick, the NutcrackAR free event will only be running here in Digbeth and around Birmingham until Friday 17th November, the opening night of The Nutcracker at Birmingham Hippodrome.
Other iconic Nutcracker pieces that you will be able to see across Birmingham until then include The Sugar Plum Fairy’s tutu, the heavily embroidered coat of the Rat King and the famous Christmas Tree!
Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker will be at the Birmingham Hippodrome between Friday 17th November and Saturday 9th December – you can get your tickets here.
