It’s National Apprenticeship Week this week (5th – 11th February) and it’s no surprise that Digbeth, Birmingham’s Creative Quarter, is a hub for apprenticeships and providers in the city!

This year’s theme is “Skills For Life”, which encourages everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills.

There’s so many benefits to doing apprenticeships, including learning on the job, earning as you learn, getting an industry-recognised qualification, improving your employability and so much more!

Apprenticeships are continually rising in popularity too – in the last academic year of 2022/23, over 750,000 people were participating in an apprenticeship in England! The most popular sectors for apprenticeships for 2023 were business administration, healthcare, IT/digital technology, retail and hospitality/catering.

Here’s some of the apprenticeship providers right here in Digbeth

BBC Apprenticeships

BBC Birmingham is setting up their new home in Digbeth, where many of our favourite programmes will be filmed or recorded. And along with this, the BBC Apprenticeship Hub brings 1000 Level 3 and 4 apprentices opportunities each year!

They said: “Through our apprenticeship opportunities, you could be working to coordinate a film shoot, produce exceptional digital marketing content, help create 3D images, work in special effects, analyse audience figures, or even create the latest digital developments through cutting edge technology – and that’s just for starters.”

These opportunities are available for anyone over the age of 18, no matter where you are in your career. Find out more about them here
